This humble home was originally built with a kit purchased from Grace Brothers in the 1950's. Unfortunately most of these original holiday / beachside homes have been either replaced or altered so that the original charm has been lost. The owners of this place had a simple brief: give the place some street appeal without losing its character. A few simple facade makeovers were explored in concept and the final result was a sympathetic addition that ticked all of the boxes. A small second bedroom was extended to provide more space and the remainder of the projection was left as an enclosed private verandah off the main bedroom. The north facing street-front was articulated to incorporate better shading and privacy whilst at the same time activating the front yard. Sliding screens, timber detailing and new cladding combine with upgraded roof ventilation and an improved entry experience to give the home back its mojo.
